Moral Manusia Indonesia

Author: Sarlito Wirawan Sarwono

Baru sesudah orang tuanya marah, dia berhenti.

RI Universities Cannot Compete Internationally

Author: Fuad Rakhman

Universities in Indonesia are having difficulties matching the world’s prominent universities and even Asia’s best.

None of our universities are on the list of the 100 best Asian universities in 2013, according to Times Higher Education, while Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia have institutions on the list. Despite the abundant resources spent by the government on improving the quality of education, it seems our “best universities” cannot even be the best (or even close to the best) in ASEAN, let alone in Asia or globally. Here are some problems we face in improving our higher education system.

Obat "Sangat Mahal" di Belanda

Sebagian Alasan Kenapa Dokter Dokter Di Negara Maju "pelit" Kasih Obat ke Anak yg Sakit

"Dimana Salahnya?"

Malik tergolek lemas. Matanya sayu. Bibirnya pecah-pecah. Wajahnya kian tirus. Di mataku ia berubah seperti anak dua tahun kuran
g gizi.

Video Games

Are Violent Video Games Harmful to Children?
Author: Edi Purwanto

In 1980s, electronic video games have begun a popular form of entertainment. This has resulted in the increasing of video games company sales every year since 1985; in present time, the sale was 10 billion a year (Vessey & Lee 2000, p. 607). During this time, the increasing of computer technology has made video games performance become more attractive, realistic and interactive (Muir 2004, p. 26). Video games contain educational, non-violent strategy, and sports (Anderson and Bushman 2001). In facts, the majority of video games content was violence which is becoming children’s favourite (Vessey & Lee 2000, p. 607). Anderson and Gentile study shows that boys spend 8 hours to play video games longer than girls who play only 5 hours per week. In addition, psychologists state that the number of children’s aggression increase; they argue that it could be caused by violent video games (cited in American Psychological Association 2004).

Author: Abu Furqon

Fast Food

What is wrong with Fast Food and Should the Fast Food Companies Be Held Liable for Promoting Such a Product?

Author: Edi Purwanto

Fast food has become popular with all ages around the world recently. For instance, people in the USA spend more money on fast food than on entertainment. This is because chemists in large food companies make the flavour of fast food appealing by using a mixture of chemicals which influence flavours and smells as well as salt, sugar and fat. As Americans spend more money on fast food, almost 66% of them have become overweight, and annually, 300,000 of Americans die because of obesity(Manufacturing Fast Food Addiction 2007).Moreover, scientists claim that fast food could be as addictive as heroin, and people can bevery dependent on sugar and fat. Experts have done a lot of research into whether fast foods areunhealthy for people(Fast food 'as addictive as heroin 2003). Although some studies of fast food are flawed, the majority of studies support the idea that fast food has some problems. As a result, fast food companies should be responsible for promoting such a product.
